365 days ago to the day this little blog was birthed, primarily as a communication necessity. Much less a soapbox and more a window into our lives as followers of Jesus during a journey through the dark valley of cancer. How long the journey and deep the dark valley we would never know – though many others would hazard a professional guess. What we did know – and still know today with ever increasing assurance – is that Jesus is a living and loving Good Shepherd and Mighty King to those who yield their lives to Him through repentance and faith. The very fact that Jesus Christ has conquered death is the greatest and most important reality in the universe. It is the wonderful, sustaining, ultimate reality in and on which Annie and I walk and stand.

Almost our blog’s one year anniversary!
Sometime in August – Sunday, September 23rd, 2012!
I spent the first ten minutes trying to start this post, relentlessly and unsuccessfully attempting to log into the blog! Relatively it’s been a long time since I posted or even checked the blog and as a result I could remember neither my username nor my password! After trying every permutation of what I thought were my details, I gave up and had new ones sent!
‘Glamping’, August 2012 – The Photos
Sunday, August 5th – Friday, August 17th, 2012
The smoother and easier life becomes for Annie and I, the harder it gets to find time and motivation to write something for this blog. Continue reading
Tuesday, July 31st – Saturday, August 4th, 2012
After spending the best part of the evening working through a carefully prepared list of things to do and pack, there’s just a little bit of time to squeeze in a quick blog post before, Lord’s willing, we leave for Devon tomorrow morning. It’s exciting!
More July 2012 in pictures
We are just two days away from our planned and prayerful attempt for a week away to the south-west coast for a Christian conference. Anything could happen between then but so far, things are not looking so bad. However, this means, I will not post anything at least until after August 10th. For the record, we have yet to go for the xray but plan to do that this coming Friday.
Friday, July 20th – Monday, July 30th 2012
It’s been roughly a week and a half since our previous update and for the most part, just like the weather, it’s been bright and sunny with the occasional rain cloud! As I write this I have my back to the sun, determined to avoid the distraction of gazing outside into a sight that betrays the narrative of our recent Olympic opening ceremony: in our neck of the woods, out there is still a very green and pleasant land (not a smoke stack or tall-hatted man to be seen!) But one way or another the sunshine relentlessly vies for my attention; whether that is by it starting to burn a hole in the base of my neck or by making it just barely possible to see what I am typing on the screen of my laptop. The sunshine is great for lots of stuff but it can be a hindrance too! Continue reading

Wow, what a great couple of weeks!
If I try to document everything in the passing of what is now almost a fortnight, it’ll be another fortnight before I have enough words with which to construct another post. Continue reading
July – Photos
Following a rough start to the week we have enjoyed more than a couple of iced-lattes.
There are some photos here of the July 4th celebration we enjoyed this week. Yes, I know, a strange holiday to be celebrating in England but with family and friend ties to America…coupled with Annie’s new-found appetite, it was the least we could do! It was a great opportunity to invite our three Czech friends from the farm. If the politics of our celebration confused you, spare a thought for them! Either way, they really enjoyed the night and we thank God for the bridge-building opportunity.
Then just yesterday we enjoyed a visit from Annie’s brother and his family. The weather was quite atrocious but our lounge was full of radiance and warmth 🙂 …and a blonde wig we found in the loft which we later inflicted on Milo.
My apologies for not displaying a particularly comprehensive gallery of photos!
